Wholesale suppliers of Pelargonium, Fuchsia, small and unusual shrubs, small trees and perennial plants.
Slootens
have been trading in Spalding, Lincolnshire, since 1923. The business began
by growing bulbs and flowers. Today the fourth generation of the
family are continuing to build the business and are now established
specialists in Pelargonium, Fuchsia, shrubs, small trees and perennial
plants.
Over the past few years our range on the nursery has become more eclectic and we now offer a wide range of plants that are less commonly seen in garden centres around the country.
Past:
Cornelius Slooten came to England from Holland in the summer of 1904 and was invited to work for a local wholesale bulb and hardy plant grower. Within a few years he was able to set up on his own and in 1923 moved his business to Cowbit Road where, over 80 years later, business continues to this day.
Present:
Today the business is run and managed by the third and fourth generation of the family. Richard van Egmond, greatgrandson of Cornelius Slooten, runs much of the day the day business.
